The Executive Committee (EC, formerly Presidium) of the International Association of Agricultural Museums (AIMA) met in Tartu, Estonia on June 27, 28, and 29, 2013. The EC agreed to statutes revisions and recommended the revision to the membership. An extraordinary General Assembly of AIMA members met June 28 and adopted the statutes which will allow AIMA to incorporate in France and maintain its treasury in that country. The productive meeting included a vote to select the site for the 2014 Congress of AIMA (CIMA 17). Membership accepted the proposal from Marseille with the date to be announced. Members also elected Merli Sild, director of the Estonian Agricultural Museum as the president of AIMA. She will complete the unexpired term of François Sigaut (France) who died in November 2012. Ms. Sild is the first woman to serve as AIMA president in the organization’s 47 year history (founded 1966). Check the AIMA website for information about the organization, and about the upcoming 2014 Congress in Marseille with visits to the new MuCEM (Musée des civilisations et l’Europe et de la Méditerranée; www.mucem.org). A General Assembly of AIMA members will occur during CIMA 17.
It is a new year and there are some new changes to this website to mention! Two new pages have been added! Under the "News" section is the new page "Conferences of Interest" which will feature new and upcoming conferences across the globe which might be of interest to AIMA members and visitors to this site. (If you have a conference you would like to be added to this page, please email the Webmaster at the following address and your request will be reviewed - agriculturemuseums. firstname.lastname@example.org).
The second new page is under the heading of "About Us" and is called "Board & Presidium Meetings." Here there are links to upcoming meetings for both the AIMA Board and the Presidium. This new page will also be home to the minutes from past meetings.
