Top 10

Premier Boys State is where high school students from all across Illinois can bring out their best qualities among many other elite students. They are divided into eight counties and strive to earn the title of Model County. Points are assigned to the counties based on performance in the sports, public affairs, floor inspections, spirit, and overall performance. This web page is devoted to the county of Hayes.

Hayes is divided into four cities, each occupying a floor in its assigned building. From the lowest floor to the highest, the cities are Badamo, Mahoney, Yost, and Bullington (aka B-Town). Each city has approximately 20 citizens who become friends by the end of the week. Two citizens are assigned for the dorm rooms which consist of pairs of bunk beds, dresser, chairs, and closets. The citizens are divided between politcal parties, Nationalists and Federalists, and every pair of roomates are of different parties.

Citizens are typically awaken at 6:15 every morning and rally outside for flag raising with the band pounding out its patriotic music. Breakfast is then served and then citizens go about their schedule. Students usually have government sessions to attend and later they have to vote and conduct their meetings later in the morning. After lunch, students have a recreation period. They may play sports, practice with musical instruments, study public affairs, or relax. Before dinner is served, a retreat of the flag takes place. After dinner, all the citizens in Premier Boys State attend a General Assembly where the band conducts a concert and speakers pound their words to the citizens. Citizens then return to their buildings to attend any meetings and then are finished for the day.
