Boys State offers a variety of activities for participants to take part in during their stay at Eastern Illinois University.

Many sports and activities are available including softball, volleyball, basketball, touch football, table tennis, chess, swimming, tennis, track and field, wrestling, soccer, and weightlifting. During your stay at Eastern Illinois University, Boys State participants have access to a six million dollar recreation facility which features six basketball courts, an extensive weight room, swimming pool, jogging track, and racquetball facilities.

Boys State Band

The Boys State Band plays an important role in the program. The Band practices daily under three professional music educators. Participants bring their own instrument, but Eastern Illinois University and Boys State furnish sousaphones, bass drums, and field snares. The band plays a concert each evening (one evening the Governor of the State of Illinois attends). The band also plays at an impressive flag lowering ceremony each afternoon. Band members may participate in athletics and or politics if they choose. The Boys State Band enhances the spirit of the camp providing a backdrop for the feelings of loyalty, unity, and patriotism that develop throughout the week.

Web Workshops

Eastern Illinois University, in cooperation with Illinois Premier Boys State will be offering workshops the Internet and the World-Wide-Web. These workshops provide training on use of the Internet, and will allow students to spend time browsing on the World-Wide-Web and its vast resources. Boys State participants will use Eastern Illinois University resources within the Lumpkin College of Business and be instructed by staff from the Lumpkin College of Business & Applied Sciences, College of Business, College of Education and Professional Studies.  Here's the result of their collective good efforts in designing a website for their county during the June 2003 Session.
