Boys are selected by local
high school guidance counselors or principals based upon outstanding
and approval will be made by The American Legion. Students
must be willing to share what he learns and experiences at
with classmates the following year"
Any civic group, club, union, church, institution, bank, or
individual, as well as Legion Posts, may sponsor a boy or boys.
The sponsor is responsible for the $150 tuition, and any local
transportation fees. The tuition fee covers the entire cost of
the program, including meals and a Boys State Yearbook for the
participant. The transportation fee which includes travel arrangements
provided for boys to and from Charleston / Eastern
will be determined by the American Legion
Post Boys State chairman.
