The Office of University Housing and Dining Services at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois,
seeks a dynamic individual for the position of Assistant Director of Residential Life.
This is a full-time, 12 month, live-on or live within the Charleston, Illinois city limits professional staff position. The Assistant Director of Residential Life works in conjunction with the Associate Director of Housing and Dining for Residential Life and Conference Services and serves as the lead Residential Life Officer in the absence of the Associate Director.
This position assists with the overall operation of the residential life program by serving as a senior member of the Residential Life Management Team. The Assistant Director actively participates in University committees and advising departmental committees. Through effective management, administrative, and programmatic responsibilities, the Assistant Director creates a community environment conducive to the academic success and personal growth of students consistent with the goals and objectives of Eastern Illinois University.
The Assistant Director directly supervises and mentors a residential life staff consisting of 1-2 full-time staff members, 4 Associate Resident Directors, and 1 Graduate Assistant Night Assistant Coordinator. Indirect supervision is also provided to full-time staff members, Associate Resident Directors, Administrative Assistants, and Resident Assistants. The Assistant Director also mentors full-time professionals and 20 graduate students who are studying the field of College Student Affairs. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Associate Director of Housing and Dining for Residential Life and Conference Services.
QUALIFICATIONS: Masterís degree required with a degree in College Student Affairs, Higher
Education Administration, or College Student Development preferred. Significant years of live-on, post-masters experience in Residential Life is required.
STARTING DATE: June 1, 2013
SALARY RANGE: Starting salary of $48,000-$50,000 per year; optional furnished and isolated 3 bedroom on-campus apartment and full meal plan (except when all dining centers are closed); financial support for professional development; benefits package including medical and dental insurance, retirement plan, and tuition waiver for up to six credit hours per semester. Additional compensation will not be provided if individual elects to live off campus while residing within the Charleston, Illinois city limits.
