EIU Position Description

POSITION: Assistant Director/Deputy Title IX Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Office of Civil Rights and Diversity

Position: The assistant director ensures compliance with external federal and state reporting requirements, including researching and writing plans and reports related to civil rights, diversity, equal opportunity, affirmative action issues; monitors and researches compliance with Title IX, particularly related to athletics and gender equity; manages centralized recruiting for faculty and administrator/ other professional positions; identifies cost-effective and innovative strategies for advancing university name recognition particularly focusing on sites that target underrepresented or underserved groups as identified though the planning processes and university initiatives; manages collection and dissemination of data and survey research; manages online civil rights training modules; and serves as liaison with campus groups and external agencies.

Requirements: Masterís degree in statistics, economics, applied mathematics, public administration or in a related discipline required. Demonstrated ability to conduct research, perform data analysis, and communicate effectively required.

Preferred knowledge, skills, or abilities of competitive candidates include: a track-record of working effectively with academic administrators and faculty committees, athletics managers, student affairs managers and other university groups; knowledge of federal and state requirements for EEO, affirmative action, and diversity in employment practices in higher education; knowledge of Title IX and gender equity in athletics; and management of web presence.
