Illinois University invites applications for the position of Director of Study
Abroad. The Director reports to the Dean
of the Graduate School and serves as the executive officer of the Study Abroad
Office. The Director of Study Abroad, in
collaboration with EIU faculty, develops the study abroad curriculum and
administers all activities to maintain, enhance, and promote study abroad
experiences at the University. Collaborating
with the faculty, administration, students, and staff is a key function of this
position. Implementation of
best-practices, innovations, technologies, organizational structures, and
processes to strengthen and foster high-quality study abroad opportunities are
essential for the position.
requirements for the position are: (1) a Masterís Degree (2) significant
experience in increasingly responsible leadership roles in study abroad
administration (3) demonstrated skill and experience in leadership and
management at a college or university and (4) experience living, studying, or
working outside the United States for extended periods of time. Preference will be given to candidates with
educational experience beyond the Masterís Degree, experience with external
funding, and experience with crisis management.
