Position: Tenure-Track Family and Consumer Sciences –Family Services Assistant Professor.
Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses with emphases in family services. Course emphases may include but are not limited to adolescence and the family, family policy, family and human development theories, family resiliency, and other appropriate Family and Consumer Sciences courses. In addition to teaching, conduct research/scholarly activities, and provide service to the university, the larger community, and the profession.
Earned doctorate or evidence of ABD status by start date with degree emphasis in family studies
and human development or related area.
Evidence of successful higher education teaching, experience with technology to enhance teaching and course development scholarly activities, and professional service and affiliations with professional organizations, such as the National Council on Family Relations and the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, are preferred.
Start Date: August 2014.
The School: The School of Family and Consumer Sciences (SFCS) has approximately 25 FTE Faculty who serve over 550 undergraduate and graduate majors. The School offers a B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences with options in Dietetics, Family Services, and Apparel & Textiles, Consumer Studies, Hospitality, and Merchandising. Master’s programs include a M.S. in FCS (Human Development & Family Life or General FCS), a M.A. in Gerontology, and a M.S. in Dietetics. The School is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Students and faculty are actively involved in organizations such as, Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society and the Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
