The School of Business at Eastern Illinois University invites applications for a full-time, 12 month, Chair position beginning July 1, 2014, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Consistent with the chairs of other schools in the college, the Chair reports to the Dean of the Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences. The Accounting and Business programs at EIU are accredited by AACSB.
The School of Business enrolls approximately 1300 students in six undergraduate majors, one graduate certificate in Accountancy, an MBA program, with approximately 45 FTE faculty and 9 staff. Faculty are organized by discipline units with Assistant Chairs. The Chair, the Associate Chair and the Director of Administration provide program leadership and support.
The Chair is the chief administrative and academic officer of the School. He/She has primary responsibility for the supervision, coordination, and administration of programs and activities of the School in a shared governance environment.
Required qualifications include a doctorate in a discipline represented within the School, administrative and management experience in a school or college of business, excellent written communication skills, and evidence of scholarly activities. A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead the faculty through collegial processes in the School of Business.
