Don't Be That Guy/Girl

The Don't Be That Guy/Girl campaign began in the spring of 2009 when Drs. Elizabeth and Matthew Gill partnered up with the Eastern Illinois University Health Education Resource Center (HERC) to answer the question: How can we promote safer drinking habits on campus? Drinking abstinence campaigns have proven ineffective and many students participated in dangerous drinking behaviors regardless.

By the use of:

  • social media
  • creative campaigning &
  • involvement in campus events

We are able to address a serious societal issue through the use of humor that is more relateable to college students. This type of advertising encourages and stimulates healthy dialogue among Eastern's students while providing educational resources.
