Academic Program This 4-credit study abroad experience will take you to three continents and three countries to see how physical and social landscapes influence one another. Come experience how geology and society help to shape each other in Turkey, Greece, and Egypt. Mountains, plains, rivers, seas, and valleys will provide the physical landscapes of study as we examine social landscapes of past and present including ancient and modern religious practices, governments, education, and family/gender roles. Activities / Itinerary "One of my favorite things about this program was Turkey. I wasn't expecting much from the country, but it ended up being my favorite place we went. Course Number: STA 3970 (CourseID 4822) Housing Many nights are spent traveling; refer to the itinerary above. For nights spent in cities, students will stay double occupancy in 3- or 4-star hotels. Orientations At least two pre-departure orientations will be provided and are required for all participants. Your faculty leader will hold one of these orientations, where he/she will cover information on safety, health, legal, environmental, political, cultural, and religious conditions in the host country(ies), as well as planning logistics. The Office of Study Abroad (OSA) will hold the other orientation. They will cover general information about traveling abroad to different areas of the world and facilitate a panel discussion composed of students who have already participated in faculty-led study abroad programs. Necessary Documents Passport Greece at this time does not require a visa for short-term stays. Egypt requires a visa, which can be purchased on arrival for $15. Turkey requires a visa as well, and it also can be purchased on arrival for $20. You are strongly encouraged to read the U.S. State Department's Consular Information Sheet on your host countries. It will provide you with a great deal of information to help you prepare for your trip. **Please be aware that you are responsible for obtaining the most up-to-date information on foreign entry requirements.
