Candida Alvarez received her MFA from the Yale School of Art and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Painting and Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Some of the venues to have exhibited Alvarez's art include: Longwood Arts Project (Bronx, New York); Betty Rymer Gallery, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago; Lehman College Art Gallery (New York City); The Hyde Park Art Center (Chicago); Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago); Contemporary Art Museum (Houston, Texas); Museum of the City of Skopje (Skopje, Macedoni); and Chicago Cultural Center. Her art is included in the collections of The Whitney Museum of American Art, El Museo Del Barrio, The Studio Museum in Harlem, and others.
