Cameron Craig, Geographer and Documentarian, shows the Gulf Ecological & Human Disaster Project Team the route they will take to document the environmental and human impact of the oil spill.

The Department of Geology/Geography is dedicated to providing students an exceptional Integrative Learning experience in the geosciences. With outstanding laboratories, equipment, and first rate professors and instructors, students graduate with a firm foundation that leads them to rewarding career opportunities or post-graduate degrees.

The department offers many areas of study/focus such as Geology, Geography, Geographic Information Science, Broadcast Meteorology, Earth Science Teaching, Social Science Teaching, Environmental and International Studies. To harness student potential, the department works with local businesses and local/state governments to provide paid internship opportunities.

Job Opportunity: Sabbatical Replacement for Mineralogy/Petrology, 2012-2013

The Department of Geology/Geography at Eastern Illinois University invites applications for a one year full-time sabbatical replacement position, beginning August 2012.  Teaching responsibilities will include the Mineralogy-Petrology sequence and general education courses in Earth Sciences and/or Oceanography.  Ph.D. preferred, ABD will be considered.  Applicants should electronically submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, transcripts, statement of teaching philosophy, and 3 letters of recommendation to Dr. Craig A. Chesner (cachesner@eiu.edu).  Review of applications will begin on April 15.  EIU is an AA/EEO employer.
