Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to pay my $100 advanced deposit before I see my advisor?

A: You DO NOT have to pay your $100 advanced deposit before you see your advisor, but you MUST have the deposit paid and see your advisor before you are eligible to touchtone.

Q: Where do I go to apply for graduation?

A: To apply for graduation, you need to go to the Dean's Office of the College from which you will be graduating. Once you fill out the cards you picked up in the dean's office, you will take those cards to the Cashier's Office on the campus side of Old Main. There is a $15 dollar fee to register for graduation. The Certifying Dean in your College will send you a list of the classes and other graduation requirements which must be completed before you earn your degree. Below are the appropriate certification officers & offices for the four colleges:

College of Arts and Humanities: Brigette Chen, 219 Fine Arts

College of Business and Applied Sciences: Kathy Bennet, 112 Lumpkin Hall

College of Education and Professional Studies: ECE, ELE, MLE, SPE, BED: Melinda Lewis 1411 Buzzard Building

College of Sciences: Barb Kuykendall,  202 Old Main

Q: Do I have to meet with my advisor every semester?

A: Yes. Here at Eastern we have mandatory advising. You will not be able to register through the Touchtone Registration System until you have been cleared by your advisor and you have paid your $100 advanced deposit. When you meet with your advisor, you will schedule classes for the following semester. It is a good idea to come prepared for your appointment so you are aware of the classes you need and classes that would be of interest to you. The best way to prepare for your appointment is to review the requirements for your major in your catalog and to review the semester class schedule to see what specific courses will be offered the following semester.

Q: What is the number to touchtone registration?

A: The number is (217)581-6640. If you are on campus, you only need to dial the last four numbers.

Q: Can I count the hours I am enrolled in this semester to figure out when I can touchtone register?

A: No. You can only count the hours you have already earned when the semester began. Technically, the hours you are enrolled in this semester have not been earned since no grade has been given.

Q: Where do I go to have my transcripts sent?

A: All transcripts are generated from the Records Office, which is located at 119 Old Main. Transcripts must be requested in person or by mail and there is a $4.00 fee to have them sent.
