Biennial Review

The Biennial Review provides a summary of the alcohol and other drug programs, policies, and statistics at Eastern Illinois University. Besides providing a summary, this review also allows for assessment of current programs and policies sot that updates can be made to ensure implementation of the best prevention strategy possible.

In accordance with this federal mandate, Eastern Illinois University has certified it has adopted and implemented a program to prevent "the unlawful possession, use or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees" on campus property or as part of any campus activity. Additionally, the University has:

  • Developed a written policy on alcohol and other drugs.
  • Implemented a process that ensures policy distribution to all students, staff and faculty.
  • Enumerated health risks associated with alcohol abuse and illicit drug use.
  • Described federal, state and local sanctions for unlawful possession or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol.
  • Designed and implemented drug and alcohol programs on campus.
  • Specified disciplinary sanctions imposed on students and employees for policy violations.
  • Conducted biennial reviews of the effectiveness of its drug and alcohol programs.
