SEXUAL ASSAULT

It is the policy of Eastern Illinois University that sexual assault or abuse will not be tolerated.  When a student is sexually assaulted, the University will make every effort to provide assistance to the student in a thorough, consistent manner.  The term sexual assault, as used in this policy, encompasses the legal definitions of sexual assault contained in Illinois State law.  It includes, but is not limited to, acts of rape, other forms of coerced sexual activity, including unwanted touching, fondling, or other forms of sexual conduct.  Illinois State law makes no distinction between sexual assault by strangers and sexual assault by acquaintances.

Educational programs and printed educational materials specifically addressing issues of sexual assault/sexual abuse will be made available to students, faculty, and staff throughout the year.

The University will make training available to faculty and staff who may come in contact with sexual assault/sexual abuse incidents as part of their professional responsibilities.
