PERFORMANCE EVALUATION FOR
CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEES

Consistent with Board of Trustees Regulations and with State Universities Civil Service System Regulations, a performance evaluation shall be conducted for all civil service employees on an annual basis.

Each year, the supervisor of each civil service employee shall complete a written evaluation of the employee's performance.  The evaluation instrument shall be selected and made available to supervisors by the Department of Human Resources.  The evaluation shall be based on performance criteria and goals established for the period of evaluation.  The employee shall receive a copy of the criteria and goals.

A copy of the completed evaluation shall be provided to the employee and a copy shall be placed in the employee's official personnel file.  The employee has the option of providing a statement regarding the evaluation to be included in the employee's official personnel file.

If the employee wishes to appeal the evaluation, a written statement must be filed with the supervisor within two weeks of the receipt of the written evaluation.  If the matter is not resolved at that level, the employee may appeal any and all aspects of the evaluation to the next-higher-level supervisor.  The decision of that supervisor shall be final except for those matters which are grievable.
