RADIO-TELEVISION CENTER BOARD

 

Purpose

 

The purpose of the Radio-Television Board is to develop, consider, and recommend to the University President broad policies for the development, organization, and operation of public radio and television facilities at Eastern Illinois University. The Board shall review services, facilities, budget, educational programming, distant learning initiatives, and policies of the Center and advise as to whether the Center's services, programming, and policies are meeting the educational needs of the University. In no case shall the Board have any authority to exercise any control over the daily management or operation of the Center.

 

Organization

  1. The Board membership shall be composed of one representative from each of the following:

Director, Radio and Television Center (Ex Officio)
President's Council - Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs
Faculty Senate
Staff Senate
Department of Speech Communication
Department of Journalism
Student Government - Student Representative
Radio and Television Center - Student Representative
Charleston Community
Mattoon Community
Professional (Radio/Television/News)
Council of Chairs
Council of Deans
Council on Teacher Education
Council of University Administrators
Continuing Education Coordinating Council
Council on Academic Affairs
Council on Graduate Studies
Women's Studies Council
Afro-American Studies
Library/Media Services
Information Technology Services

  1. The officers shall be a Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson, and a Secretary elected for a two-year term. The Director of the Radio and Television Center will be executive officer of the Board and an ex-officio member without vote. (Secretarial services will be provided by the Radio and Television Center.)

  2. An executive committee consisting of the chair, vice chair and a third member of the Board, chosen by ballot from the membership, shall be responsible for preparing calendars, agendas, data, and other routine business associated with the functions of the Board. Ex-officio members shall participate in executive committee meetings.

  3. The Board shall hold regular meetings at intervals to be determined by the membership, but will meet at least two times each year.

Responsibilities

  1. To generally supervise all operations of the radio and television facilities.

  2. To develop a more detailed set of bylaws for their operation based on these guidelines.
