Graduate Program Application Procedures and Forms

Applying to the Biological Sciences Graduate Program is a two part process:   

(1) Submit application materials to the Biological Sciences Graduate Program (BSGP) and
(2) Submit application materials to the Graduate School.

The forms listed below are available in paper form from the BSGP Coordinator or you can print the forms you need from this site. Applications for admission to the Biological Sciences Graduate Program are accepted at any time and you may begin your career at E.I.U. at mid-year. 

IF YOU DECIDE TO APPLY FOR A GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIP, YOUR APPLICATION(S) AND SUPPORTING INFORMATION MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 15, 2011.

U.S. Residents:

1.  Submit a Graduate School Application on-line
        - Graduate School Application for Admission

2.  Mail the following to the Graduate School Office:
        -  Official Transcripts
        -  Official GRE (general) scores

3.  Mail the following to Dr. Jeff Laursen:
        -  BSGP application 
        -  Statement of Personal Goals
        -  Three Letters of Recommendation

4.  Submit a Graduate Assistantship Application to the Graduate School


International Applicants:
 
General Information for International Graduate Program Admissions

1. Mail the following to the International Programs Office:
        -  International Student Application
        -  Official Transcripts
        -  Official GRE (general) scores
        -  Official TOEFL scores
        -  Financial Affidavit Form

2. Mail the following to Dr. Jeff Laursen:
        -  BSGP application
        -  Statement of Personal Goals
        -  Three Letters of Recommendation

3.  Submit a Graduate Assistantship Application to the Graduate School

4. Mail the following to International Programs*:     
        -  Scholarship Application Form

*A student cannot receive both a Graduate Assistantship (stipend + tuition waiver) and an International Student Tuition Scholarship (tuition waiver only) but should apply for both. If both are awarded, the tuition scholarship can be easily declined.
