POSITION: Director of Development, Donor Relations

Position Available:  Director of Development – Donor Relations

 

Responsibilities:  Eastern Illinois University seeks a high-energy professional for the position of Director of Development – Donor Relations.  Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement, the selected candidate will be primarily responsible for stewardship with top donors to recognize and thank them for their gifts, to ask/answer questions about their gifts, and to encourage continued giving.  The Director of Development – Donor Relations will be responsible for the oversight and management of Donor Giving Societies which includes recognition of donors in publications, ceremonies, and special events.  The Director of Development – Donor Relations will also be responsible for coordination of special events and projects, especially those related to top level donors, Presidential and VP donor activities.  Additional responsibilities include those related to fundraising or for university-wide priorities as determined by the Vice President of University Advancement.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  The preferred candidate will have a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree, some experience in event planning, some experience in any area of fundraising, and shall exhibit strong leadership characteristics including:

  • Commitment to cultural diversity and educational equity;
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills;
  • Social skill and ability to work with potential donors and alumni, as well as students, faculty, staff, administrators, community members, and others throughout the nation in friend-raising and fund-raising activities;
  • Knowledge of current issues and trends in the fundraising arena.

 

STARTING DATE:  August 15, 2013

 

SALARY RANGE:  Competitive and commensurate with qualifications

 

CONTRACT YEAR:  Twelve months
