	EIU Application Materials Course Approval Form Malaca Application You MUST complete a hard copy application in order to receive the partner discount through EIU. Please complete and bring to our office; we will submit for you. All Application Materials should be turned in to the Office of Study Abroad in 1207 Blair Hall by the appropriate deadline.

Program Highlights

Malaca Instituto is dedicated to helping non-native speakers learn Spanish. Its sole focus is language instruction, and it is open to people of all ages and language backgrounds.

Malaga is located on the Mediterranean Sea and is a modern city with a long history. Malaga's roots as a city date back to the 8th century when it was founded by the Phoenicians. Today, Malaga is mainly a tourist city due to its moderate climate and beautiful beaches.

Student Life

Malaca Instituto is open to students of all ages from 16 years of age up. Since Malaca only teaches Spanish language courses, you will not be taking classes with any Spanish students but rather with students from all over the world. Many tourists or business people take short-term courses at Malaca, but other university students will study at Malaca for a semester or more. You will meet a wide-range of people while studying at Malaca.

Included with the price of tuition at Malaca, you will have the opportunity to take Flamenco and/or Salsa lessons, hear weekly cultural talks, and view films in Malaca's cinema.

In the city of Málaga, there are many activities for tourists throughout the year. It hosts numerous festivals, including Carnival, and offers many other cultural attractions. Málaga is the birthplace of Picasso (you can visit the Picasso Museum); you will find many magnificant works of art and architecture by Picasso and others. If you want to explore other areas of Spain or Europe, bus and train networks are extensive and affordable.

Housing

Malaca Instituto offers three different housing options to its students:

1. Club Hispánico - located in the same building as the school; offers single, double, triple, or executive single rooms

2. Host Families - live with a Spanish family; single or double rooms; half-board (breakfast and lunch) included in price

3. Student Apartments - located in the city, most within walking distance; single, double, or triple rooms available; shared bathroom, living room, and kitchen

**You are responsible for making all housing arrangements and payments directly to Malaca Instituto.**

Foreign Entry Requirements

Passport
To enter Spain, you must have a valid passport. If you are a U.S. citizen and do not currently have a valid passport, or if your passport will expire during the time you will be overseas, please go to the U.S. State Department web site for information on how to apply for/renew your passport.

Visa
