The Bridging Scholarship

U.S. Students who will be participating in a semester or year long study abroad program in Japan

Early April, in advance of the academic year

Semester Program: $2,500

Full Academic Year: $4,000

DAAD Scholarships

Gilman International

Student must receive the federal Pell Grant.

U.S. undergraduate students planning to study abroad for at least 4 weeks.

Boren Awards for International Study


Minimum 1 sem., Maximum 6 sem.  Must include a language focus.

Africa; Central and Eastern Europe; Near East; Asia; Latin America Caribbean plus Service Requirement

Boren STEM Initiative

For STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) students pursuing an 8 week minimum summer program

$500 scholarship offered twice per year, deadlines in September and November.

Fall applications open in July; Spring applications in early fall


University of Westminster USA Study Abroad Scholarship

For students who plan to study at the University of Westminster in the fall semester.  Must have a GPA of 3.6 or higher. Must be at least 20 years or older.  Preference is given to members of underrepresented groups.

Freeman-Asia Scholarship

Must be a U.S. citizen planning to study in one of the following countries for eight weeks or longer: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, or Vietnam. Must demonstrate financial need. Must have little or no previous experience in the selected country.

Fall deadline is April 1.  Spring deadline is October 12.

Huayu Enrichment Scholarship

Must apply to study exclusively Chinese at a Taiwanese university-affiliated language center.  Applicants can study 3, 6, 9, or 12 months.

Stipend of NT$25,000 (about US $850) per month

Panrimo Scholarships/Grants

A combination of merit-based scholarships and need-based grants available for those students participating in any Panrimo program.
