MINUTES OF THE COUNCIL ON ACADEMIC AFFAIRS 10-26-00
The October 26, 2000 meeting of the Council on Academic Affairs was held at 2:00 p.m. in the Arcola/Tuscola Room.
Members present: Mr. Brinkmeyer, Dr. Cosbey, Dr. Dietz, Dr. Kory, Dr. Marlow, Dr. Methven,
Ms. Ninness, Dr. Owen, Dr. Shonk, Dr. Wall, and Dr. Wohlstein.
Members absent: Dr. Bock and Ms. Rutter.
Staff present: Ms. Herrington-Perry and Mrs. Rawlings, Academic Affairs.

I. Minutes.
The Minutes of October 19, 2000 were approved as corrected.
On Page 1, Item IV., last line, replace ENG1102G with ENG 1002G. On page 3, item XII. delete, "See Attachment A for details." On page 4, delete ANT 2290G The Anthropological Perspective, Honors, from the list of "courses not included in General Education."
II. Communications.
III. CASL Report AY 1999-2000, 00-35.
Dr. Roszkowski and Dr. Sanders presented the report and answered questions of the Council. Discussion centered on several aspects of the report, including the writing performance section. The TASKs test was also discussed.
The motion to accept the report passed unanimously.
Interim Provost Wall and Dean Augustine discussed the history and purpose of the TEDE Steering Committee with the Council. Dr. Augustine is the Chair of the TEDE Steering Committee.
V. Revision of Political Science Major, 00-33.
Dr. Wandling presented the proposal and answered questions of the Council. Discussion centered on the revisions to the major. The motion passed unanimously, as amended.

Admission to the Political Science Department Honors Program is open to students who have at least a 3.50 grade-point average on a 4.0 point scale and have completed the following: Political Science 1003, 1153G or 1193G, 2003, 2053, 2253G or 2293G and 2603. Permission of the Director of Honors Programs and the Departmental Honors Coordinator is also required
VI. Revision of Repeating Courses, 00-34.
Dr. Shonk moved and Mr. Brinkmeyer seconded the motion to postpone this item until the November 9, 2000 CAA meeting.
