Teacher Certification at EIU will not change until the ISBE & NCATE have completed their deliberations.

This means that:

      1. Students must continue to complete Illinois 1992 teacher certification requirements for general education.
      2. Transfer students who complete the IAI general education core and native students who complete Eastern's newly revised general education programs must complete additional requirements for teacher certification.

Once ISBE & NCATE guidelines are official, EIU will move forward in a deliberative fashion to revise teacher certification requirements.
