Every year Eastern Reads sponsors a contest, all students (first-year, transfer, and continuing) are encouraged to submit for consideration.

Reaching for the Sky: Contest for a Cause
Extended Deadline: Monday, October 10, 2011
Have you ever read, seen or heard something that made you think... “Somone should do something!”
This is your chance to be that SOMEONE and make a difference! So act!
Develop an idea that can make a difference. Then submit your proposal and see if you can receive a $100 to $500 mini grant to make your idea a reality!
Information needed to submit a proposal:
- Tell us about your idea
- Who will benefit
- What will the project accomplish
- In what ways does your project connect to the themes of Half the Sky
- Why should your project be funded
Submissions Requirements
You may submit as an individual or group. Submissions must be made on-line.
The Reaching for the Sky project includes two phases.
Phase One: Simple project proposal submitted. Tell us about your idea!
(individual or group submission accepted)
Phase Two: Finalists will be asked to more fully develop their projects and to present their ideas. The presentation will allow finalists to share their passions and energy for their project to the selection team and the university community.
The finalist presentation will include:
- a written response to detailed questions
- 3-5 minute oral presentation
