WILLIAM PHIPPS (2005)
The first annual Embarras Valley Film Festival honored William Phipps, an Eastern Illinois University Alumnus, who left for Hollywood in the early 1940s. Mr. Phipps' filmography boasts many roles such as the voice of Prince Charming in Walt Disney’s Cinderella as well as supporting roles in epic movies such as the original War of the Worlds and Invaders from Mars. Mr. Phipps, 84 years old at the time of the festival, has an extensive filmography of movie and television roles. In an interview with Mr. Phipps, he spoke with pride of his role as Teddy Roosevelt in the television mini-series Eleanor and Franklin as well as of his position as freshman class president at Eastern Illinois University. Mr. Phipps was an Accounting major with a minor in Literature, a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon and a head cheerleader.
