Philanthropies:

Girl Scouts of America - In 1998, we adopted them as a national philanthropy.  We have our own Kappa Delta/Girl Scout patch! Thousands of young women and girls are benefiting from interaction with positive Kappa Delta role models as they work to each the patch and wear it with pride on their sashes. At EIU, we have adopted our own troop and host meetings at our chapter house.

The Dove Campaign for Real Beauty - We help raise self-esteem in girls and women.  Kappa Delta is proud to join forces with Dove to make a difference in the lives of women and girls across the country.

Stand Up! Stand Out! (SUSO) - Why try fitting in, when you were born to stand out!  We encourage girls to be themselves and not give in to peer pressure.  We help girls with issues in today’s real world.

Shamrock Event - This week long event is used to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse of America. 80% of the money raised goes on the local level and 20% to the national level. In order to raise this money, we can shake at different places throughout the week and host a paintball tournament for the other sororities and fraternities.

Orthopedic Research Awards - Since 1950, Kappa Delta has funded the highly coveted orthopaedic research awards through the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). The three awards of $20,000 each are considered by the Academy to be the highest recognitiion of excellence and promise in orthopaedic research. Starting with a $1,000 contribution in 1950, Kappa Delta has given over $1.2 million to the AAOS.

Children's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia - Our support for this hospital reaches back to 1921 with a modest pledge of $1,200 to support two beds. Today the Kappa Delta Foundation Children In Need Fund donates $25,000 annually directly to the hospital in honor of our historical commitment. We are the only NPC group with its own Christmas Seals. Proceeds from the sale of these go to support our philanthropy.
