Friends

In today's society, in my own personal opinion, there aren't enough values. Ever since the earth began, Americans have been asking themselves, "How much do my friends mean to me?" Well, to me, my friends are everything. They help me through the good times, and they help me through the bad times. I would do anything for my friends, and they would do anything for me. Where would we be without friends? My friends mean so much to me. One of my past experiences helped me see that friends are important.

It all started when I got a phone call. My best friend, Billy, was calling from the police station, because he had been arrested. I actually didn't believe him at first, but then I started to believe him when I heard the police radio in the background. Although, he could have had a tape or something. When I heard a man tell him to hurry up I believed him.

He sounded so upset. He said he had been driving to the park when they pulled him over. I can honestly say, he hadn't done anything wrong. Well, to make a long story short, they searched his car and found a beer can on the floor. Then they told him to get out of the car, and arrested him.

Being that I was his best friend, Billy called me. He didn't want to call his parents; however, maybe he should have. I wanted to help him but, my mom had the car. I walked to the police station as fast as I could. I was so upset. When I turned the corner by the police station I saw Billy on the steps waving to me, and that's the last thing I remember. I guess a car came around the corner and hit me. I woke up in the hospital with two broken legs and Billy was sitting there with my parents. They decided not to charge him.

In conclusion, friends are so important. They help us get through life. Basically, friends provide a shoulder to cry on, and they are there when you need them. This quote says it all: "A friend is the most special thing in the world, the medicine for this disease called 'life'"--Joanna D. Robinson.
