Richard Stoddard aged 53 years of Charleston, Ills. on oath says that he saw Bryant Thornhill in the Court House in Charleston, Ills. on the 28th day of March 1864, counseling with leading copperheads. He seemed to be excited. Often looked toward the soldiers during his conversation. Was talking in a low tone—all this occurred not more than ten minutes before the shooting commenced.
