Words, nouns and alternate spellings
By default the search program looks for substrings or a phrase as part of a longer word. A search for "Ashmor" finds also "Ashmore", "pass" also finds "Trespass". If you want to search only for the substring, choose "exact" to search for whole field contents.
Search terms are used case insensitive.
Multiple search terms
Multiple search terms have to be separated by a space character.
If no boolean operator is specified, "AND" is used. "monroe byrd" is equivalent to "monroe AND byrd"
For boolean operations "AND" and "OR" can be used. Note the uppercase!
Boolean operators can be nested with parentheses. For example: "(louis OR central) AND railroad"
Chronological searches
Through "year[<][>][=]YYYY" or "YYYY-YYYY" a search can be limited to specific years or year intervalls
Examples:
"year=1860"
"damages property year<1860"
"damages property year>1860"
"appeal bond 1860-1865"
