Prior to service in Europe, Captain Dudley attended Fort Riley for four months. Captain Dudley not only received physical training and discipline, but also learned through classes and reading materials proper military etiqutte and ideals. For example, in Captain Dudley's United States Army Regulations manual, several notations illustrate some of the information, including the hierarchy in regiments and battalions and the proper treatment of military barracks, quarters, and supplies that he was required to learn.
