Nutrition for the Addicted Person
Course Description
Consideration of nutrition
needs and eating problems of alcoholics and other substance abusers;
nutrition management; and treatment plans.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:
a. discuss the etiology
of addictions and malnutrition syndromes characteristic of addictive behaviors.
b. identify the mechanisms of malnutrition and common nutrition-related disorders
in the addicted person.
c. identify the nutrition management goals in the treatment of the addicted
person.
d. discuss the roles of various professionals in the treatment of the addicted
person.
