NRHH Selection Information

Welcome and thank you for checking out information on how to become a member of the Louis V. Hencken Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary at Eastern Illinois University.  We imagine if you are reading this page you have been nominated or someone told you to apply because of your outstanding contributions to University Housing and Dining Service at Eastern. 

As you may know NRHH is comprised of the top 1% of leaders living on-campus, which means our chapter can have approximately 35 members.  The purpose of this organization is to recognize those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the development of on-campus activities, programs, and hall government. In addition, our organization strives to further appreciate those residents who have unselfishly rendered their services to the advancement and improvements of the housing system at Eastern Illinois University.

The Louis V. Hencken Chapter is a very active organization on campus.  We oversee the Residence Hall and Greek Court recycling program, Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser, Fall and Spring Leadership Conferences, Scholarship Fundraisers, and many more events.

Selection Timeline:

Applications online: January 7, 2013

Applications/Recommendations due via the website: February 1, 2013

Contacted about interview process: February 8, 2013

Interviews Conducted: Week of February 10, 2013

Letters sent about outcome: February 18, 2013

Induction Ceremony: February 27, 2013

Membership Requirements:

In order to be considered, all nominees must have the following:
  •          Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 2.65;
  •          Have resided at least one semester in University Housing at EIU prior to nomination;
  •          Be currently enrolled at EIU and reside in University Housing during the academic year of selection; &
  •          Have exhibited outstanding leadership and service to the University Housing system at EIU.

To apply for membership you need to complete an application and submit online

We recommend that you sit down with either a Housing Staff Member or a NRHH Member to talk through your application.  We have provided a sample application to help guide you in completing your own application (Sample Application).
