Frank McCormick Phi Beta Kappa Study Abroad Scholarship

The Frank McCormick PBK Study Abroad Scholarship is awarded to an exceptional full-time student of Eastern Illinois University who has been accepted to a study abroad program. The program may take place in the summer or over the course of an academic semester or year. The deadline for the 2013 award is March 22. The amount of this year's award is $330. 

 Qualifications for the award include:

a declared major in one of the following: Africana Studies, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, English, Foreign Languages, Geography, Geology, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Pre-Medicine, Psychology, or Sociology/Anthropology 

a minimum 3.25 GPA

an application form

an essay describing the anticipated value of the Study Abroad experience to your academic career

a minimum of one letter (maximum of three letters) of support from a faculty member

All application materials should be sent in hard-copy form to: Dr. Suzie Park, English Department mailbox, Eastern Illinois University.  

Other eligibility criteria:

Financial need is not a consideration. In the event of two equally qualified applicants, preference shall be given to the student who will be attending programs in which English is not the sole language of instruction, or who plans to pursue graduate education, or who has the strongest overall academic potential.
