TEC 5323 Advanced Database Technology

Discussion of Week 5

 

This is the fifth discussion of the semester. Please use the discussion guidelines in Course Policy to formulate your response! The grading scale in the policy will be used for the discussions starting this week.

 

Discussion Topic:

In your discussion last week, you understood the database server types including dedicated server and multithreaded server. Once the server is set up, it is ready to provide the services for applications.

This week, we start working at Structured Query Langauage (SQL). This is the major part of any database technology.

Please explain why we need SQL. In other words, what can we use SQL for?

 

Discussion Board (WebCT) Procedure:

  1. Login WebCT.
  2. You will log on to your WebCT desktop with your login username and password.
  3. Click on TEC5323 Advanced Database Technology. 
  4. Click on the "Class Discussion" icon from the TEC5323 web site.
  5. Under Subject, click "Week 5: Discussion." Please do not click Compose Discussion Message!!!
  6. Click "Reply" button.
  7. Compose your message. Press "Preview" to check for errors.
  8. After your check your reply, click "Post" button.

When you are ready, please click Discussion Board to login.
