- short strings have high frequencies;
- long strings have low frequencies

- 30 washers; string; scissors; measuring tape / number line; masking tape; straws
lesson sequence
Exploration Phase
- pass out the string and washers, asking students to "fasten" them together
- have a "count down" to release at the same time; repeat several times to
establish uniform results
- hang the pendulum along number line; take time to make all corrections so there is
the pattern clearly shown; put chalk marks in the holes of the washers ...
- and remove the string; connect the dots to form a graph
