Snake Ecology Group
A Little Perspective...
The Snake Ecology Group (SEG) is a loosely-defined group of biologists
all of whom share common interests in various ecological aspects of ophidian
squamates. The spirited enthusiasm of the group more than offsets its
lack of formal organization. Our meetings are typically held at field
stations or nature centers. Without the distractions of a university campus
or a metropolitan area, these settings seem ideally suited for the exchange
of ideas and small group interaction.
Meeting history
SEG-I: Turtle
Cove Environmental Research Station, Louisiana, August1990; hosted
by Richard Seigel
SEG-II: Camp Tyler,
Texas, October 1997; hosted by Neil Ford
SEG-III: Ozark Natural
Science Center, Arkansas, September 2000; hosted by Steve Beaupre
SEG-IV: Touch
of Nature Environmental Center, Illinois; May 2004
The dates of SEG-IV were chosen to facilitate an easy transition for all participants
from this conference to the joint
herpetological society meetings which commence on 26 May 2004 at the
University of Oklahoma
