The Delta Beta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho was founded  January 21st 1971 at Eastern Illinois University.  Delta Beta chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho  was  the very FIRST historically black sorority at Eastern and was involved  in promoting campus unity with other Greek organizations as well as the campus at large.  Over 28 years later, the women of Sigma  are actively involved in programs aimed to better the community.   Delta Beta is comprised of a group of diverse young women, and was the first sorority on campus to induct a member of non- African American decent. The chapter is actively involved in service programs such as Habitat for Humanity, visiting nursing homes, working with teens in the community, the Charleston homless center,  and many other programs through out campus.  With the help of our graduate chapter Alpha Upsilon Sigma we continue to keep our slogan "Greater Service, Greater Progress" a part of our legacy of community service, sisterhood, and scholarship.
