Staff Senate Minutes: December 13, 2006SENATORS PRESENT:
Sara Amyx, Dan Carpenter, Kathy Cartwright, Eric Davidson, Harold Harris, Heidi Hawkins, Tom Leonard, Adrienne Paladino, Matt Pederson, Doug Sloat, and Irizarry Zoraida SENTORS ABSENT: Sandy Bingham-Porter, Greg Boyd, Adam Due, Teresa Sims, Linda Strange GUESTS: Chris Stanfield (HERC) President Kathy Cartwright called the meeting to order in the Schahrer Room
at 1:15 p.m. Chris Stanfield from the EIU Heath Education Resource Center presented the Tobacco Free Initiative. Discussion was held as well as question and answer period. Members were asked to go back to their constituencies and a vote on the support of this initiative will be held during the January meeting. Old Business: CUPB – Sara Amyx reported on the possible reorganization of CUPB and how it would affect Staff Senate's representation on the council. Amyx will email a copy of the various proposals to all senators. CUPB will vote in January which proposal to accept. University Union Focus Group – No report this month. Presidential Search Committee – Amyx informed the senate where information can be accessed regarding the search from the EIU webpage. The committee is at a standstill until the end of January when it will begin reviewing candidates. Meetings with the President – tabled until January meeting. New Business: Discussion was held regarding preferred university holidays for 2008/2009. The consensus was to have a Thursday/Friday off to extend the weekend. Committee Reports: Parking Appeals – Paladino reported on reviewing 18 parking appeals. Union Advisory Board – Carpenter reported on the dates for next year's family weekend (October 5 th and 6 th ). Additional renovations have been made to 7 th Street Undeground. Next month's meeting will be held on January 8 th at 1:15 p.m. in the Schahrer Room.
