Senator Boyd updated the senate on the Vice President for Business Affairs Search. The search committee will start telephone interviews tonight (December 8, 2008). The plan is still to have on-campus interviews in February. The position hopefully will be seated in April and started by July 1, 2009.

President Kolling updated the senate on the university budget issues. The administration has been asked to put 2.5% of appropriated funding in reserve. There has not been a request to return the funds at this time.. The administration is also mainly looking at the top three items that President Perry had emailed to the campus community early on regarding the budget. The following three items include:

• Reduction of non-safety related maintenance

•  Postponement of filling some vacant positions

•  Reduction of spending on programmatic and equipment needs

III.  Old Business

Daycare Resolution The senate discussed the many positives and negatives of this proposal and decided to table this discussion and vote until further information was received. Dr. White suggested having the Faculty Senate and the Staff Senate join together and talk about the positives and negatives. Also suggested having Dave Mauer return and maybe he can answer some questions for both senates.

Brad Green, Recorder
