Staff Senate Minutes: November
13, 2006
SENATORS PRESENT:
Sara Amyx, Sandy Bingham-Porter, Greg Boyd, Dan Carpenter, Kathy Cartwright,
Eric Davidson, Adam Due, Harold Harris, Heidi Hawkins, Tom Leonard, Doug Sloat,
and Linda Strange
SENTORS ABSENT:
Adrienne Paladino, Matt Pederson, Teresa Sims, Irizarry Zoraida
President Kathy Cartwright called the meeting to order in the Schahrer Room
at 1:15 p.m.
Minutes were approved as distributed by acclamation.
Old Business:
CUPB – No report this month. The November meeting was cancelled.
University Union Focus Group – No report this month.
Presidential Search Committee – Report given by Due. The consultant,
Dr. Elaine Hairston, hired by the university to aid in the presidential search
visited campus on November 8th and 9th seeking input from faculty, staff,
and students. There will be a website that will update the University
on the search committee’s progress. If you have comments or suggestions,
you can email the consultant directly at the following email address: elaine.hairston@academic-search.org
Meetings with the President – Cartwright has contacted Judy Gorrell to set
up meeting dates. When she hears back, she will let everyone know.
Meetings will tentatively start in January 2007.
New Business:
Smoke Free Campus Survey – An email from Michelle Morgan was passed around
soliciting feedback regarding the proposed Smoke Free Campus initiative.
There was discussion regarding the proposal. Constituents are encouraged
to contact any Staff Senate member via email to voice their opinion on this
issue. The Smoke Free Coalition will be presenting at the next meeting.
Heidi Hawkins will be replacing Jerilyn Hutson as the Civil Service Council
representative.
Sandy Bingham-Porter will be attending the December Board of Trustees meeting
to update the board on Staff Senate and its initiatives. Potential items were
discussed by the senate.
Next month’s meeting will be held on December 11 at 1:15 p.m. in the Schahrer
Room.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 p.m.
