Staff Senate Minutes: May 12, 2004

SENATORS PRESENT:  Sandy Bingham-Porter, Dan Carpenter, Kathy Cartwright,                                                                       Anne Cutright, Eric Davidson, Zoraida Irizarry, Gale Kannmacher,                                                        Tom Leonard,  Mosezell Magee, Matt Pederson, Doug Sloat,                                              Janice Spraker, and Linda Strange

 SENATORS ABSENT: Lori Creek, Adam Due, and Terry Tomer

President Kathy Cartwright called the meeting to order at 1:15pm in the 1895 Room in the University Union.

Sandy Bingham-Porter will continue to be our representative for the Council on University Planning and Budgeting (CUPB) for the two-year term seat.

April minutes were approved.  We will follow up concerning holiday flextime.

Janice Spraker reported the results of the April Staff Senate Elections.  The results are as follows:
Non-Negotiated:                    Kathy Cartwright, Teresa Sims
Negotiated Facilities:             Greg Boyd
AFSCME 981-BSW/FS:        Dan Carpenter
AFSCME 981-Clerical/Tech:   Anne Cutright
University Police:                  Mosezell Magee

Sandy Bingham-Porter shared that the task of the Comprehensive Technology Planning Committee (CTPC) is now complete and the final report is on the web at http://cats.eiu.edu/ctpc/ctpcfinalreport.cfm  The sight was shared in the April 27 University Newsletter.

Dan Carpenter mentioned that the Environmental Health and Safety Committee did not meet May 11.

Doug Sloat mentioned that the next CUPB meeting will be May 14, Friday.

Kathy Cartwright announced that our representative, Terry Tomer, on the Facilities, Planning and Management Search Committee will be retiring.  Therefore, Doug Sloat volunteered to be our representative.

The Staff Senate will be in recess over the summer.  At the September meeting, we will elect our FY05 Officers and Senators will volunteer to serve on committees.  Duties of various committees were discussed.
 

The next meeting is September 8, 2004, in the Schahrar Room in the Union.  Our meetings are always open and everyone is welcome to attend.  If anyone has any questions or issues that they would like us to ask at our next meeting, please let one of the Senators know.  The list of Senators and their email address are at http://www.eiu.edu/~stfsenat/members.htm
