Getting Started

1. Create a user profile at Turnitin. You will be required to provide your EIU PEN email address that will become your Turnitin user name. You will choose a password for your Turnitin account. We recommend using a different password than your EIU PEN email for increased security.

2. Join a course at Turnitin by using the class enrollment password provided to you by your instructor. Once you join/enroll a class, locate the assignment created by your instructor where you will submit your paper. It is IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER that you can only submit ONE paper ONE time for each assignment. Make certain you have the correct paper and version of that paper for each assignment. Academic Honesty

Students need to be familiar with the Standards of Student Conduct Codes and the proper EIU procedures for responding to academic dishonesty. The office of Judicial Affairs provides resources for both faculty and students.
