Dr. Wafeek Wahby

Wafeek Samuel Wahby is a civil/structural engineer, a construction technology professor, the former Coordinator of the Applied Engineering and Technology Program, School of Technology, EIU, and a faculty member of its Graduate School and International Programs. He received his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, two M.Sc. degrees in Structural and Material Engineering, and a Ph.D. on Polymers in Concrete from Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt. His research interests include composites, polymer concrete, masonry, and precast/prestressed concrete.

Over the last three decades, Dr. Wahby published and gave numerous presentations and was a keynote speaker at local, national and international conferences such as ATMAE, MRS, ASEE, ICPIC, GRC, TRB, ACI, National Geographic, and others. 

Wafeek offered EIU study abroad courses in China—focusing mainly on the Three Gorges Dam project, and in Egypt—focusing on the Toshka Project and The New Valley of the Nile in the Western Desert of Egypt. Currently he is preparing other study abroad courses focusing on major engineering projects and historic sites in Brazil, Greece, and some EU countries.
