For our mini field trip, we listened to a speaker from the Haiti Connection. He informed us about the work that they do in Haiti. They make water purifiers for the less fortunate that live there. This connected to Ida because Ida lived her life helping people, and this is what the Haiti Connection is all about.
We also went and took a tour of the Daily Eastern News. The girls were able to see what the workroom looked like and some equipment they used. There was old equipment there that was similar to what Ida would have used when working at her newspaper company.
