I’ve been invited to read my poems at the Polish Embassy in Washington, DC. This really means a lot to me. In addition, my first short story in 30-something years has just been published by The Ontario Review. The piece is called "The German," and it's the first chapter of a novel I'm writing about a soldier lost on the eastern front at the end of WWII. I've also published some poems recently. "The Work My Father Did in Germany" appeared in Nimrod, and "Letter from Poland" in Atlanta Review. My book Third Winter of War: Buchenwald was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Poetry. And an essay, "All Holocausted Out: On Non-Jews Using the Word 'Holocaust,'" appeared last month in The Vocabula Review. And don't forget everybody's invited

River. Another essay, “Lithuanian Christmas,” which
was published in last year’s Agora, will appear in the journal
