In His Own Words:
I gave two talks in Fall of 2014 -- one on white performances via social media of “racialized slacktivism,” at the Thomas R. Watson Conference in Louisville, and another on white masculinity in Don DeLillo’s novel Underworld. The latter was a campus presentation in England, at the University of Huddersfield.
I’ve also been working on several writing projects, two of which appeared this Spring: “‘Proof of the loop’: Patterns of Habitual Denial in Tim O’Brien’s In the Lake of the Woods and Don DeLillo’s Libra,” in a book for Salem Press, and “White Male Nostalgia in Don DeLillo’s Underworld,” in a book for Cambridge University Press. I plan to keep reading and writing during a sabbatical next year – well, that and walking my dog Cleo every day. While thinking about reading and writing.
