Spring Book Sale planned April 13

Booth Library will host its spring book sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 13 outside the south entrance of the library.

A large selection of books in all subject areas and hundreds of paperback fiction titles will be available for purchase. All items have been donated by the campus and local communities.

Library staff requests no sales in advance. The proceeds from the sale are used to enhance library programs and services.

In case of inclement weather, the sale will be postponed. For the latest information on scheduling, check this website, or find Booth Library on Facebook or Twitter.

Poetry Month

April is “National Poetry Month” a celebration of poets and poetry started in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets. Over decades Booth Library has collected hundreds of volumes of great poetry by single and multiple authors Take a look at a few selected titles listed below including American classics as well as bright new voices like EIU’s own Charlotte Pence and Ruben Quesada. The EIU English department celebrates National Poetry Month with readings and events

You can find all kinds of celebrations nationwide including this link to famous poets reading their work from the Poetry foundation. Booth library of course also offers many different resources related to the study and enjoyment of poetry including the Columbia Granger’s World of Poetry or these encyclopedia entries from the Gale Virtual Reference Library.

Books for Downton Abbey fans

The final episode of Downton Abbey has aired, to the regret of its many fans!  Booth Library has many fiction and nonfiction books to satisfy readers’ interest in all things Downton.  Topics include aristocratic life in elegant mansions and castles, society during the World War I years and Roaring ’20s, and Upstairs/Downstairs-style drama.  The following books are on display in the library’s 3rd floor hallway, close by the central staircase.  All are available for checkout.
