PHILAE: THE TEMPLE OF ISIS
After taking the bus tour of the High and Low Dams, we headed for Philae,
the Temple of Isis. This temple could only be reached by boat because
it was moved from its original location after the dams had been built to
an island called Philae. Fathy told us this temple was carefully
moved, piece by piece, to the island to save it from being under water.
This temple was very beautiful because of its unnatural location on the
island. This temple, like Edfu, was very well preserved. One
unique feature of this temple was that the columns were topped with the
largest variety of tops. I saw the tops of columns decorated in all
the different styles we saw in previous temples, here in one temple.
The pictures taken on the boat are of the boat that took us to Philae.
