EIU Facilitator for Carl Sandburg Illinois Hero Team: Amanda Watson

My name is Amanda Watson. I am a senior at Eastern Illinois University.  My major is elementary education with a concentration in sociology. My future plans are to teach either kindergarten or first grade in a school district in Michigan, living right next store to my sister, Dana.
My favorite thing to do is eat cereal in bed and watch a good movie.  I also enjoy reading novels, my favorite book is Summer Sitters by Judy Blume .
I had the greatest opportunity to work with Amber, Ariane, and Sydni, as we learned about our Illinois hero, Carl Sandburg.  I am glad I had a chance to learn about the person for whom their elementary school is named.  Carl Sandburg not only used his talent to write novels, but he also wrote wonderful poems, folk songs, and a Pulitzer Prize winning autobiography of Abraham Lincoln.  My Illinois Hero team and I enjoyed reading Rootabaga Stories, a children's book written by Sandburg.  My experience with Project WOW was an unforgettable one.
